Halloween is my favorite holiday, but this year I was working most of the day. Which was fun, except we got a little slow in the afternoon because... well I guess there was mischief and mayhem (and trick-or-treaters) keeping people from the store.
Because of general laziness (I think I'm fighting off a cold) I didn't get the time to make the Punk Rock Dorothy of Oz costume I'd drawn up, and it didn't matter anyway since I wasn't going anywhere except work. Luckily, I had already made this other dress that was a perfect last minute outfit!
Dress: Handmade/Me, Boots: Dr Martens/Ebay, Cardi: Thrifted |
It's a little bit big on the top, but that was a cutting error on my part. I LOVE this Day of the Dead fabric from JoAnn's and I'm sure I'll wear this more than just for Halloween. I've also got my favorite blue skeleton cameo on and a purple hair flower. :-D Lots of people thought I looked super cute! And it was perfect for my Halloween tradition - lighting candles and watching The Great Pumpkin while eating popcorn.
On a side note, I'm really in love with my hair like this. Which is funny because when I was younger I thought I had the biggest forehead ever and never wanted it to be showing, but I LOVE my hair pulled away from my face now.
That's all I've got for this week, but stay tuned. Monday I'm going to show you the most fabulously ugly sweater I own. (It's a giant square union jack. That is all. With sleeves.) Have a good weekend!!
your dress is fab!! also punk rock Dorothy sounds amazing! great boots too, love a pair of Doc's (my eldest has some metallics I maybe 'borrowing') and yes, your hair is lovely! I too had a thing about my forehead, but now can't bear hair on it! x x have a wonderful weekend x x
ReplyDeleteThis is a perfect dress for Halloween and it looks killer on! I have a apron made with a similar fabric and I adore it!

ReplyDeleteI love that fabric, too!!! The dress is super cute and you can wear it much more than a costume!!
ReplyDeleteI like your hair like that , too--shows off your face!!
Perfect Halloween dress!! And I love seeing your hair pulled back like that, it looks really cute!
ReplyDeleteOoohhh.... the perfect Meghan blend of sweet and sour. Nice and nasty. You're a bundle of contradictions. Which is why you're so interesting.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy you're back! Funny story - I have that same fabric, after I left Philly for Allentown I went shopping at Jo-Anns with my friend Alicia and I bought the same fabric!! Great minds my friend - we think alike. You look super adorable - do you mind if I ask what pattern you used?
ReplyDeleteLovelovelove the print of that dress. Nice for Halloween, or all year round!
ReplyDeleteOpposite to you, I used to HATE my bangs, but now I adore them! I still like growing mine out, but I like the choice now.
Yay! I'm digging your hair this way, too. You have a great face and I'm glad fear o' forehead isn't putting you off. :D I used to hate my cheeks, but I think I've come to just be happy about all of my bits 'cause they work, now.
ReplyDeleteLove the dress! And the accessories are great. Sweeping your hair back is a wonderful way to show off that lovely face. Very cute Halloween-themed outfit.
